God or Mammon?

I feel that God is saying to us Christians to get rid of the stuff that he does not want us to have. The stuff that we hoard. The stuff that we store , the stuff that clutters, the stuff that we put our identity in, the stuff that prevents us from seeing the true riches He has given us and blessed us with. ‘Stuff’ can cost us a lot of money to store. ‘Stuff’ can be stolen. We are the stewards of what we have. It is up to us to get rid of the stuff that God does not want us to have, the stuff that prevents us from putting Him first in our lives.

There are seasons that we need stuff and God blesses us with stuff. There are seasons God wants us to lighten our load. There are seasons God tests our hearts to see if we love and trust HIM more than the stuff we have. There are seasons God wants us to get rid of the old, to bless us with the NEW. We need to check our hearts and hear from God to see what season we are in.  Remember the very rich ruler? He was sorrowful when he was told to sell all he had and give it ‘all’ to the poor, and THEN follow Jesus, to i nherit eternal life. When we are worldly-minded, our heart is focussed on earthly things that perish. When we are ‘Kingdom-minded’ , our heart is focussed on pleasing God and doing what He asks us to do. Don’t be sorrowful, you will receive greater reward in your obedience, now and for eternity! With GOD all things are possible. Don’t allow ’stuff’ to come between you and your God.

Mathew 6:9 - 21 states, “Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal: for where your treasure is, there will your heart be also”.
